Don't know where to start with cytology?
Learn a step‑by‑step system for reading every FNA cytology sample, in a live workshop designed for busy general practice vets and techs.
β 4.9/5 course rating Β· 3,000+ students Β· 10 years teaching GPs
Most vets were never taught a system for reading cytology.
So every slide feels like starting from scratch.
You don't know where to start on the slide.
You're not sure the sample is even good enough to read.
You get lost in a sea of purple cells.
You second-guess yourself, so the slide gets sent out anyway.
A system is something you can learn, and you can learn it in two evenings.
What we'll cover
Learn the system
The step-by-step approach I use on every FNA slide.
Check that your sample is diagnostic
Know where to start and what to look at, in order
Learn what you can safely ignore
Use it on real cases
A live, interactive case workshop.
See each case the way it would show up in your clinic
Look at the cytology and write down your read in your workbook
Talk through it together, step by step
One system you can use on every sample
Skin mass, lymph node, or any other fine-needle aspirate, the system works the same way. Here's what it does for you.
Know where to start
Read every slide with a plan instead of scanning and hoping something jumps out.
Stay organized
Move through each sample in the same order every time, so nothing important gets skipped.
Make sense of what you see
Sort what's on the slide into what matters and what doesn't.
Avoid common mistakes
Catch a non-diagnostic sample early and avoid the traps that lead to a wrong read.
This workshop gives you the system. It's the foundation you need before you can make specific diagnoses with confidence.
I'm Kate Baker, DVM, MS, DACVP.I'll teach you the system I use every day.
I know what it's like to stare at a slide and have no idea what you're looking at. It took me years of training to get past that feeling. Now I'm a veterinary clinical pathologist who has taught thousands of general practitioners how to read cytology in a way that finally makes sense. Because you deserve to treat your patients without second-guessing yourself.
What vets say about the system
From general practitioners who've learned it from Dr. Kate.
βThis course demystifies cytology for the general practitioner. It's incredibly practical, systematic and logical in its approach. I didn't learn it this way 20 years ago and suddenly it seems so much more manageable and far less daunting.β
Dr. Lisa G., General Practice Veterinarian
βDr. Kate reviews fundamentals as well as advanced information in a way that is easy to understand and fun at the same time. Her case studies reinforce the learning in a practical way. I feel much more confident already.β
Dr. Stacey S., General Practice Veterinarian
βI was so hesitant with cytology before this courseβ¦ I'm not dreading looking at slides anymore or copping out by sending everything in without looking at it myself first.β
Dr. Chelsea A., General Practice Veterinarian
βAfter taking this course I am much more comfortable interpreting in-house cytology of fine needle aspirates. This is an invaluable course for any general practitioner.β
Dr. Sam T., General Practice Veterinarian
βThe Best! Seriously, formulated to help you learn and RETAIN information that you need to be able to recall in practice! I LOVE it and am recommending it to all my colleagues.β
Dr. Lori A., General Practice Veterinarian
βBefore this course, I HATED cytology. But now, I want to aspirate and look at everything.β
Dr. Audrey H.
βThis course was exactly what I was hoping for. I wanted to get more comfortable with cytology so I could make point of care recommendations for my patients. One of the most interesting, engaging CE courses I have ever taken.β
Dr. Astrid D., General Practice Veterinarian

Questions
Why is this only $37?
Because I want every general practitioner to have this system. It's the foundation for reading any cytology sample, and I don't want cost to be the reason you don't learn it. It's two focused evenings, not a full course. If you want to keep going after the workshop, I'll show you how you can keep learning with me.
Will I learn to diagnose specific masses?
This workshop teaches the system you'll use on every sample: checking that the sample is diagnostic, then reading the slide step by step. You'll practice it on real cases. Making specific diagnoses for each sample type, like skin masses, lymph nodes, blood smears, and urine, is what my Cytology Skills Accelerator covers.
How much CE will I get?
3 hours of RACE-approved CE. To earn it, attend both sessions live on Zoom. Can't make it live? Add on-demand CE at checkout to earn your credit from the recordings. RACE program #20-1418382.
What if I can't make it live?
You'll have the recordings for 14 days, so you can catch up or rewatch. The recordings on their own don't include CE. To earn your CE from the recordings, add on-demand CE at checkout. You'll get your 3 hours of RACE-approved credit plus 12 months of access.
What time is it where I live?
6:00β7:30 PM Central both evenings. That's 7:00β8:30 PM Eastern, 5:00β6:30 PM Mountain, and 4:00β5:30 PM Pacific.
Who is this for?
General practice veterinarians who want a clear way to read cytology, whether you rarely look at slides or you've been reading them for years without a system. Technicians are welcome too.
Stop starting from scratch on every slide.
Two evenings. One system you can use on every sample, for the rest of your career.
